Pictures A-Z started

Finished reading Moving Pictures last night, so that's 3 books down. I need to figure out what I'll do for my 4th, if I want to read another Terry Pratchett book, re-read the Harry Potter series (I haven't read the books as a whole yet), dive back into the Hitchhiker's Guide series, or give the George R. R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice series we were given as wedding gifts a go. You can tell I really like stories that span several books.

I've been taking a few pictures of animals spotted around my apartment complex. Unfortunately for me, I took two of them before July 1st, so I can't count them towards the A-Z. However, I got a good one last night that I can.

I decided on the 29th of June or so to take my camera to work. Don't know why, I just did. When I stepped off the stairs on the bottom floor to go to my car, in the middle of the road lounging was this little guy. He saw me and made himself as flat as possible. I saw him and started to take out my camera. He ran when I looked down for a second to adjust the zoom. "Dammit," I thought, not seeing him anywhere and went to my car to go to work. As I passed the tree in front of my building, though, there he was again. I pulled into an empty spot a few spaces away, snapped a few shots and went to work.

These guys show up every few days near sundown in the field behind us. I have 20 or so shots of them taken from my 3rd floor porch. I love the zoom on this thing. I got the close-up shot after a car drove by and a few ran. Looking at the pictures, it seems like almost the whole herd is bucks. There's not many in the group shot, but the herd grazing usually ranges from 15-20 deer.

This guy was singing for me yesterday as I watered my herb garden. He was in a much clearer spot, but once I grabbed my camera and started to zoom in again, he flew away into the tree leaves. I managed to find him again and snap him when the wind blew the leaves just right. And so, my first A-Z Photography picture is C - Cardinal.
