So, Hubby and I finally got back from our wonderful honeymoon in NYC! I kinda wish we were still there. I love the big city, and my second trip was even better than the first. I don't think I'd want to live there, but part of me is arguing against that.
As far as my list goes, this week got a lot of them started or improved upon, and one finished.
Started:
#2 - We visited the Museum of Natural History in the Upper West side, and Madame Tussaud's wax museum near Times Square. I loved the skeletons on display at the MoNH, and think I found a new favorite extinct animal (Glyptodons - weird name, but a shell that you can't help but want to ride on). Wax museums are kinda creepy, but allow for good pictures
#3 - We visited the aquarium on Coney Island. Not the most amazing aquarium I've ever been too, but the animals were active. By which I mean the large groups of nigh-uncontrolled children. Good lord, the camp groups...Almost traumatized me from having kids.
#89 - You can't go on vacation without buying gifts for other people. I think it's impossible. We came back with two dolls, one for a little girl with my name and one for a little boy or girl my sister-in-law is expecting, a baby outfit (for the same niece or nephew-to-be), and a cute cookbook for the mother of the other little girl.
#97 - Hubby and I had a semi-date night out at Max Brenner's, a nice chocolatier we were given a gift card for. I say semi because, while it was our nicest dinner out the whole time, we sorta forgot we had the gift card until we walked by the place on our way to somewhere else. We ended up staying in the area people-watching, looked at books in a huge Barnes & Noble, and then got an amazing dinner finished with half a chocolate pizza (he got marshmallows, I got marshmallows, peanut butter and bananas)
Improved:
#32 - Read two more books by Terry Pratchett - Good Omens (co-written with the equally amazing Neil Gaiman) and Witches Abroad, another Discworld book I hadn't read yet. I meant to save it for the trip home. I, um, had a hard time waiting. By which I mean I was done last night.
#66 - Our first restaurant on our first day was a place called Chirping Chicken. We hadn't managed to find a place open that sold breakfast on Sunday, so we settled for there. I ordered a souvlaki. I didn't know what souvlaki was. Looking at Wikipedia, what I got was the Souvlaki-pita. It was all right, but I don't think I'd eat one again, except maybe to try the shish-kabob style one instead of the sandwich one.
#70 - Um. I took 516 pictures over the whole trip. I'm gonna need some time to pull out the good ones and figure out which to represent certain letters. Seals, sea lions, Statue of Liberty, Seahorses, and several other fish and animals are gonna have to duke it out for the S-photo. I'll update the pictures when I get them uploaded. It's gonna take a while...
Finished:
#11 - I didn't think we'd actually go on a walk for walking's sake while up there, but the first day, we didn't have any set plans until a show at 3PM (Avenue Q is HILARIOUS for any interested), so we just walked to see the area and walk around Central Park. I was so sore by the end. It only took three or so days before I could get out of bed without any aleve! I feel like my legs are a lot more durable now. The hard part will be keeping it up. Walking around here is just not as nice.
