This Sunday will be Hubby's and my 1st anniversary. I can't believe we've been married almost a year. It's really flown by. A year ago on Sunday, we got married, spent the evening playing laser tag and bumper cars with our friends and family (best post-wedding party ever IMO :P), and found out that we were going to be an aunt and uncle at dinner. Honestly, I believe that that was the best gift anyone could have given us that day. Nothing else can really compare in meaning, longevity, and importance to the knowledge that in a few months, perfect little Julia would be joining our family. The only thing that comes close was how many people would come so far for us. Family from Georgia, Florida, California; friends from Florida, Viginia, Texas, Washington... It really was the best day of our lives with the best friends a couple could ask for.
As of now, we've only got two more gifts to use to beat the wedding gift task. We've got plans in the works for both of them. Now it's just a matter of buying the few things we need and making it happen. I'm not going to let this one slip by. It's too simple and we're too close to mess it up here.
We ate at a new restaurant this weekend, making #3 for my local restaurant list. It's a small place called International Cuisine, and their window advertises a mix of Mediterranian and local foods (ex: kababs and philly cheese steaks). I picked up a pizza made with a pita bread base that was delicious! I was going to get a sub, but it felt really weird when the place is literally sandwiched between a real pizza parlor with subs and a Jimmy John's sub shop. The pizza was different enough that I could justify it. Plus, I love pita bread. Actually, thinking about it, I DID order the sub at first. But I asked for a side of pita bread, telling the woman taking the order how much I love the stuff. "Oh, did you see the pita pizza then?" she asked and pointed it out on the menu. "You can get it with our chicken or any of the listed toppings." One quick order change later, and I happily went home with a personal pita pizza. Thanks for the recommendation, cashier lady. :) Home run for you.
I'm currently going through a new book, the first one of two that the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games are based on. Surprise, it has the same name, too. They're dense (600+ pages per book), the pacing is odd, and the language is off, but what can you expect from a country's oldest book translated into a language not even close to the same as the original? I'm liking it so far, but again, it helps that I know some of the story already. I'm hoping to finish book 1 by next weekend and get started on book 2.
