200 Days In, #14 Done

According to that little counter on the right, I'm now 200 days into my 1001 day project. With 21 tasks completed, I'm right on schedule!

I was busy adding to the list this weekend. On Saturday, my coworker, her 3-year-old daughter, Hubby and I went ice skating (#14). We were there an hour, and the rink was crowded. They were completely out of regular ice skates when we got there - I was stuck in hockey skates, and almost got stuck in men's hockey skates! They didn't fit, so I had to trade them in for another pair. Little M made it around once with her mommy and me holding her hands. She didn't fall once! I didn't either in the 4 circles I made, but I almost did. Thankfully Hubby was always close enough to keep me up. I forgot how much skating does a number on your legs and stomach. I was still sore until yesterday!

After skating, we all went back to our apartment and Hubby made us all dinner. I made sure to use some of our wedding gifts to set the table (new placemats, napkins and napkin rings). Since she didn't have a nap (her own fault, Mom tried), Little M was getting sleepy so they went home and we decided to watch a movie for the rest of the evening. I've had The Forbidden Kingdom for ages but never watched it. I'm sure I said it earlier, but I love kung-fu/martial arts movies and I'm particularly fond of Jackie Chan, so I'm amazed it took me this long to get to this movie. Jackie Chan and Jet Li together for the first and possibly only time! It was a lot of wire-fu, but I still loved it. It was a predictable movie, and I guessed the ending pretty early on, but that didn't ruin it at all (at least for me, judging by Hubby's reaction, I don't think he approved :P).

We also finished Kirby's Epic Yarn yesterday. We've both loved Kirby games for ages, so of course we were going to get the newest installment in the series. It's a bit harder than most Kirby games because you can't float like you used to be able to, you transform only when necessary instead of inhaling powers (and can't inhale at all, actually), and the collision detection between two players killed us or got in our way more than we would like. Some stages are definitely better suited for a single player as well, but we worked past them. Aside from some major frustration on certain stages, we managed to beat it without killing each other.

Finally, I screwed up a dish for the first time. I was trying to get fancy with broccoli by using a recipe my friend gave me to add garlic and red pepper flakes. I think I steamed the broccoli too long (while utterly forgetting we got a food steamer as a wedding gift), then burned the spices when they cooked too fast, and overcooked the broccoli trying to mix them with the spices. Hubby was sweet and still ate them, but they were pretty bad...in my defense, I have never steamed anything before nor tried to flavor broccoli...
