This past weekend was a lovely Mom's day weekend. Mom and Mom-in-law came and visited Saturday - Monday. Hubby and I are lucky; our mothers get along famously. They stay in hotels together, take long vacations together...it's weird! But I'm happy about it, for sure. :) I'd much rather have the families I have now than any of the stereotypical families you see or hear about where the two sides don't get along. In any case, we went shopping at my mom's favorite store on Saturday then dinner at Meelo's, where my mom got "the best spaghetti with meat sauce she's ever had." Sunday we got up and Hubby and I made breakfast for them (waffles and bacon), then us girls headed out to the local botanical garden. Because of surprise parking fees and dark clouds on the horizon, we didn't stay as long as we would have liked (and it never even rained...), but we had a good time. My Mom-in-law showed off her skills with naming plants - she knew pretty much all of them without even looking at the placards. After the gardens, we spent the rest of the day at the nearby mall shopping, came home, got Mother's Day dinner at another local joint called Elmo's Diner, and finally parted ways. They did drop by my office the next morning to see where I work and say goodbye. All in all, it was a nice weekend!
I've got about four tasks coming up on completion soon - one by necessity and 3 by chance. Hubby and I are nearing our 1 year anniversary. I've still got to use three remaining wedding gifts to complete my "use all gifts within 1 year" task (#45). We're out of town this next weekend, so we're gonna have to crunch the remaining three into a very short period of time. It's doable though. My Mom-in-law brought us some plants I need to repot, and I need to go buy a pot for one of them and soil for all of them (I lost two of my old ones over the winter and can reuse the pots.) I'll probably pick up another plant while I'm there getting those, all together completing #47) Expand porch garden/plant more herbs. Cleaning the apartment for 3 months (#51) is almost over. Middle of June should finish it up. And finally, Hubby and I have been eating at the dining room table all this week (#55) - either we've had guests over or we've had nice meals worth eating at the table. We've got one more night to finish the week, but we're meeting some friends out tonight to celebrate the end of the semester and new jobs. I'll count this one done with one more night at the table properly. I think I'm gonna try and make that the norm; it's nice eating like adults as opposed to putting something on the TV and mindlessly watching the glow of the 'tube. In any case, by the end of June, there'll be at least 4 new tasks marked off as done.
I'm glad your mother's get along. Mine do to. Makes for great joint family gatherings. My Mum-in-law is coming to visit this weekend. I should add eating dinner at the table to my list - Hubby and I still haven't done that and the tables been set for that purpose for a while. We did eat breakfast together at the table yesterday morning. :) I hope you enjoy your trip out of town. :)
