#55 Done, Trip to Charleston, Juliebean Update

You know what, what was here before was way depressing. None of that!

We went to Charleston this past weekend for Juliebean's baptism. Now, I'm not religious, but I respect every religion and like to experience different faiths. I consider myself Taoist agnostic, but I've been to Catholic church, a Jewish bat mitzvah, and now an Episcopalian baptism. It was a lovely, touching ceremony, and her mother and I will agree, Julia felt the importance of it. She may only be three and a half months old, but she did all the right things at all the right times - when the water was being poured on her, she raised both her hands towards the priest, and when he annointed her forehead with oil, she gave him a giant smile. It was very poignant for a little baby. And luckily, I got all the big moments on camera! Sis-in-law had asked me to photograph, and I got the arms, the smile, and a touching kiss from their priest on her forehead after she gave him that smile. You can tell her really cares about my bro- and sis-in-law and Julia.

Aside from discovering a GIANT bruise on the back of my leg and getting bug-bit like mad, we had a good time with his family. Julia has me completely wrapped around her finger (and my hair completely wrapped around her hand - guess who just learned "Grab and Pull" this weekend?) I wwish we lived closer so we could spend more time with her. It's so hard to put her down, especially now that she's smiling so much. I got to put her in her pyjamas Sunday night. I picked out a cute little monkey onesie for her - she's my little Monkey now :) Her mom's taken to calling her Juliebean too! Yay for nicknames sticking!

Before we left on Monday, Hubby and I met up with her mom for lunch at a local restaurant I'd wanted to try - the Hominy Grill. I'd heard about it from Best Thing I Ever Ate on Food Network - Alton Brown said they had the best chocolate pudding, and I'll never say no to chocolate. I got the shrimp and grits, their specialty, and pudding for dessert. It was a lot thicker than I was used to, but really good! Plus, the workers there were great, being very accommidating when we were waiting for Sis-in-law to get there. Good recommendation, Alton!

Day Zero-ish, #55 is done. We've actually gotten into the habit of eating at the table now, even with take-out. It's nice, plus it keeps the living room much, much cleaner. We also haven't watched TV for weeks now because we'd turn it on for dinner and then just bask in the glow until bedtime. We still bask in the glow, but now it's from devouring our videogames instead of doing nothing but scanning for something to watch. I'm hoping to finish up the one I've been working on shortly so I can move onto the next game. Also, Hubby and I finally have a free weekend, so I'm going to try and use at least one of the three remaining wedding gifts. we've only got 3 weeks left before our anniversary, so they need to get done, or else I'm going to fail my first task.
