Happy Valentines Day, readers :) Hope all your husbands / boyfriends / girlfriends / fiances / SOs do something nice for you today. Hubby and I are just planning on making steaks. We've both had more than our share of negative experiences on Valentines Day that we're disenchanted with the holiday. From car accidents to passing family, it's too depressing. However, tomorrow marks 2 years since we got engaged on a whim, so it's a little positivity.
This next week is going to be busy. Hubby's birthday is next Tuesday, and versus physical gifts, his best friend and I both bought tickets to separate events. Saturday, we're going to a concert performing video game music with the Charlotte orchestra (not sure if it's symphony or philharmonic) with J. Sunday, M and his brother B are coming down to nerd it up (three visits from M in 2 months, he's spoiling us!). Tuesday, we're taking my tickets down to Raleigh for a Carolina Hurricane's hockey game. I barely know anything about hockey, so it's going to be interesting. Hubby played his entire childhood, though, so this'll be a treat for him. I just have to avoid this flu that's going around until next Wednesday...
We watched my J movie this weekend - Jackie Chan's First Strike. Yes, that's the official title of the movie. It's your basic Jackie Chan martial arts movie - innocent officer caught up in political scandal, doesn't want any trouble but keeps finding it. There's an amazingly choreographed combat scene with a folding ladder that I can't imagine how many takes it took to get right.
I finally ordered the pieces I need for my recipe compilation. They haven't shipped yet, but they should be here by next week. All that I'll have left to do is design recipe pages, print them, and put the notebook together.
Cat recently introduced me to a website for recipes - Group Recipes. It's like Facebook for recipes. You can post them, find them, favorite a cook or just a recipe, and search for recipes by almost anything you can think of. It'll be a huge help for expanding my recipe list!
