Happy 2012!

Happy New Year! I am not being good with this whole blogging thing right now, am I? I'm still keeping up with my Day Zero, I'm just not being as "posty" as I used to be. Things got kinda busy at work near the end of the year, and then vacation. Which I got a cold over from my niece. I guess when you're 1, you don't have a lot you can give your family for Christmas.

Anyway, I wound up with Terry Pratchett's Snuff in my stocking for Christmas and, as planned, plowed through it for my #50 book read. Holy crap, it's done. I read 50 books. Fifty NEW books. Well, technically 49, but I read my 51st book (Ready Player One) in one day, the same day I finished Snuff, so it could be either. It's really weird. When I set my goal for 50 books, I was going to reread all the Discworld books, reread all the Harry Potter books, just reread what we already had. And instead, I only made it through one I already read. Every time I went to my bookshelf, I ended up looking for something new. I basically ended up ignoring all the ones I already read in favor of reading something new. And I'm really glad I did. Did I like all the new books I read? Not really. There were a few total flops. But I found several new authors I liked, read some books I would never have read otherwise, and I'm proud of myself for it. I'm still gonna go reread all the ones I want to, but that can be done after I've finished some of the other lists I've got to do.

Hubby got me the newest Professor Layton game for the DS which I promptly tore through. Love those games :) So that's game #12 for my game count. Now that I'm done with the books, I'll probably devote more time to this one.

Let's see, what else? Oh yes! Hubby's Christmas present from me will complete one! Friday, April 13th, we're going to see Lewis Black live stand-up! We'll have #10 done then. I'm looking forward to it. I was hoping for Gabriel Iglesias to come back to the area, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. When I heard that Lewis Black was coming, I jumped on them and got us tickets the moment they went on sale. That show's gonna be great!

I watched my L movie with my in-laws over Christmas - Love Actually. Not my kind of movie usually, but a damn good cast, so I enjoyed it.

As far as cooking goes, I made a new recipe that was highly altered for #23: Chicken Pillows. The recipe's over on Learning By Burning. It's very easy, delicious, and easy to alter. I just remade it the other day with cheddar cheese, diced onion, and a dry ranch dressing packet versus Mexican flavors. Yummy!

Another year, more tasks to do. I'm sorta getting into ones that I'm less interested in, so it's gonna get harder from here. But I'm gonna do the best I can!
