Hubby and I had a rather eventful week last week. Wednesday, my best friend since middle school, a girl who was my guardian and my rock during some of my hardest times and a bridesmaid in my wedding came through town. She and her mother had been on vacation driving from FL to VA and just seeing the sights. On the way back, K stopped by for a visit. We took her to our favorite burger place, watched a Patton Oswald DVD and talked about the old days. I was sad to see her leave, but I'm hoping next year Hubby and I will be able to go down to visit her and hopefully go to a convention together again. We haven't done that since I was a junior in high school.
Thursday, Hubby's old roommate J came over early in the afternoon and stayed until almost 11PM. We played games, watched youtube videos, and introduced him to the 24" pizza slice. Which reminds me that I need to sign up for groupon. We tried to go to our taco joint but the line was out the door. Apparently they had just had a groupon featured, and our pizza place is going to have one soon. Discount pizza and nachos? Yes please.
Saturday, we met Bro-in-law, sis-in-law and Juliebean for lunch at a thai place they introduced us to and Hubby wanted to go back to. Amazing fried rice there. Anyway! Julia's getting so big now! I can't believe she's already 6 months old (as of tomorrow)!! Too fast! She's almost completely holding her head up on her own now, and she's very, very cuddly. We went back to our apartment to hang out and I spent most of the time holding her. They showed us how she's trying to crawl (she can get her butt up in the air a bit, but she's not quite got the hang of getting her legs moving) and she showed us how she can untie her shoes (she looooves pulling anything, so shoelaces are the best toy ever). I'm getting much more comfortable with moving her around too. I was pretty nervous holding her when she was born, but now that she's stronger and I've got experience with her, I feel more comfy playing with her. I seriously didn't want them to go, but they had dinner plans.
While we were trying to figure out our own dinner plans, we got a call inviting us to a pub in downtown Raleigh with a few friends. With nothing else on our plate, we went, hung out, and ended up doing something we've never done before - bar hopping. We spent a few hours at the pub, and as it got late, a pair of friends we wanted to see came by. Unfortunately, the pub was charging a cover by that point, so we all paid our bills, got up, and followed the more experienced people to another bar. That one was full to bursting, so on to the next one. We stayed there for a bit, going between chatting with our friends, watching them play beer pong with water, and watching Alien Versus Predator on the tv above the DJ. We finally left near midnight. Since Hubby and I don't drink much, if ever (special occasions only), it really wasn't our thing, but I'm glad I can say I've done it now so I won't be tempted to do again because "I never have." If they invite us again, we'll probably go to the pub to hang out, but we'll head home after that. Sunday we didn't get out of our PJs and played video games all day. Wheeeee!
I'm going to split this one into two, it's getting long.
