T minus two days and counting before July 1st and starting the list. I'm going to have to avoid rushing in and doing all the easy ones early on. That's what I tend to do wrong - rush in headfirst and then lose momentum quickly. This time, I need to take it slow and easy, one thing at a time. My husband is going to house and dogsit for his parents starting tomorrow while they're on vacation, so I'm going to be starting this on my own for a few days until I go see him on Friday.
I ordered a cookbook last week with some leftover birthday money, Nanny Ogg's Cookbook. It's recipes based on characters and dishes from the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett - my favorite series and author. I love cookbooks like these, where authors make some of the ridiculous foods you read about come to life. I have a Roald Dahl one full of candy recipes straight from the original Willy Wonka books. Nanny Ogg's arrived yesterday, and I dove into it, finding it just as hilarious and colorful as his normal books. And then I remembered my "Cook one recipe from every cookbook" goal. Whoops. Time to find something that I can actually cook in it, and figure out how to convert from metric. And I'm not going to wimp out and do The Librarian's banana recipe, which reads simply: Find a banana. It's too easy to please an orangutan.
I'm not starting until July 1st either and I can't wait either! It seems like it's taking so long to get here and it makes me feel like a kid at Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI think we're all in the same boat, ladies! I was thinking the same thing today, and I'm also starting on July 1!
